Letterpress workshop with Lucy Guenot

ABOUT THE  COURSE:

Learn as much abut the process as possible, including how to set and use the presses. Using Adana, Albion and proofing presses, you can make postcards, posters and prints.

Saturday:
Looking at samples of letterpress.
Introduction to the process.
The type – wooden & metal.
Setting type – how to.
The presses – how to operate them. We will be using 3 types of press: Vandercook-type proofing press, a small Albion press & an Adana table top press
Inks – which sort to use & how to ink type.
Paper – which work best with letterpress.

Looking at the type available and start planning ideas for print.
We can print cards, postcards, posters & prints. We can overprint on existing prints or drawings.

ABOUT THE TUTOR:

Lucy Guenot is a freelance book designer & graphic artist who studied graphic design (BA) at Saint Martin’s School of Art in the 1980s.

She completed an MA in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking at UWE, Bristol in June 2015 where she specialised in letterpress.

TO BOOK THIS COURSE:

Please pay a deposit, or the full amount, to secure your place. (You can either use a Paypal account or a credit/debit card to do this). If you would prefer to pay by cheque, please send it GPC, Griffin Mill, London Rd, Thrupp, Stroud, GL5 2AZ, stating your name, address, phone no and email, plus the name of the course. To avoid double booking, please email us if you have sent a cheque. Confirmation of your place will be made by email within a week of receiving payment.

Terms and Conditions:

Bookings are only confirmed on receipt of a deposit or the full cost of the course. If you paid a deposit, the balance must be paid 28 days before the course starts. Bookings made within one month of the start date must be paid in full. If full payment is not made, you risk losing your place on the course and deposit. If full payment is not made, you will not be allowed to start the course.  

Cancellation Policy:

Your deposit, or the sum of £50, will be lost If you cancel at short notice (less than 2 weeks before the course start). If your place cannot be filled, no monies will be returned

Please note that it is sometimes necessary for tutors to be passed your e-mail address for the purpose of running the workshop.
